I’ve been taking turmeric regularly for a while now, and let me tell you—it’s one of my favorite health-boosters as a business owner. Turmeric health benefits go far beyond aiding your digestion. It can improve your immune system, your skin, your heart, and so much more.
When you think of turmeric, you might think of Indian food. A lot of curries call for turmeric, and in fact, turmeric is what gives mustards their yellow color.
Curcumin is the most active constituent of turmeric. I remember telling my friend Aly how gross I had been feeling, and his advice for me was to take turmeric. His family is Indian and uses it on a daily basis because of the health benefits. Since then, I’ve been taking turmeric regularly—and I love it!
Still not convinced? Here are some turmeric health benefits you should really pay attention to:
Turmeric Health Benefits: Improves Brain Function
I’m always looking for ways to improve my brain function and health. As a busy business owner, I have to!
That’s why I love taking turmeric. Turmeric curcumin can increase new neurons and fight degenerative processes in the brain, while making you smarter and improving your memory.
And not only that, but it’s also been known to help lower the risk of brain diseases such as Alzheimer’s, according to Healthline.
Turmeric Health Benefits: Fights Many Diseases
This root spice doesn’t just fight Alzheimer’s, though. It can also help prevent or heal arthritis, prostate cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, and more, says Dr. Andrew Weil.
Dr. James A. Duke reviewed over 700 studies on the effects of turmeric. In most cases, turmeric curcumin outperformed many pharmaceuticals with virtually no adverse side effects.
Turmeric Health Benefits: Promotes Heart Health
Turmeric curcumin can reduce your overall cholesterol levels. And in case you didn’t know… high cholesterol levels or atherosclertic plaque buildup can lead to heart attacks, strokes and blood clots.
But don’t take my word for it. Research on mice has shown that curcumin can help protect arteries from fatty buildup.
Turmeric Health Benefits: Anti-Aging Properties
Who doesn’t want to look younger? Turmeric curcumin can help with that.
Turmeric enhances the body’s own synthesis of antioxidants while protecting skin cells and brain cells from free radical damage. Basically, it slows down the creation of wrinkles!
I simply take turmeric supplements on a daily basis, but I have also tried out some DIY beauty recipes that are applied directly to the skin. (Turmeric can also be great to fight acne.)
Turmeric Health Benefits: Boosts Your Immune System
Talk about clearing the sinuses!
When I feel a cold coming on, I take a shot of lemon, ginger, turmeric, honey, cayenne pepper, and a little coconut water. This is not for the weak, mind you. I feel sick for about 20 minutes after taking the concoction, but I feel a massive improvement on my cold once that grace period passes.
The curcumin in turmeric increases the level of immunity-boosting proteins, which fight bacteria and viruses.

I also love taking turmeric through my Pukka Tea. This stuff is caffeine-free and uses only organically grown ingredients.
You can also get your daily turmeric fix with a turmeric latté. These lattés are delicious—and healthy! If you like chai tea lattés, you’ll love this.
How to Make a Turmeric Latté
Grab your ingredients:
Ayurvedic Organic Golden Milk Blend
Milk (You can also use almond milk or oat milk if you’re staying away from dairy.)
Start by heating up the milk in a saucepan on medium heat. Once it’s hot, add a ½ teaspoon of turmeric and stir until it’s completely blended. (You can use a full teaspoon of the turmeric blend if you like a bit of an extra kick!)
Then add as much honey as you want and stir until it’s dissolved. If you have a handheld milk frother (like this one), you can froth your milk in your mug.
And there you have it—a turmeric latté that is beyond delicious!
